Starlight Double-Delight Cake

Ingredients:
6oz Cream Cheese (2 3 oz pkgs)
3/4cups Shortening, separated
1/2tsp Vanilla
1/2tsp Peppermint Extract
6cups Confectioner's Sugar, sifted and separated
1/4cups Hot Water
4oz Chocolate, melted (4 squares)
2 1/4cups Pillsbury's Flour, sifted
1 1/2tsp Baking Soda
1tsp Salt
3 Eggs
3/4cups Milk
 
Instructions:
1.  Cream together cream cheese, 1/2 c. shortening, vanilla and peppermint extract until fluffy.
2.  Blend half of the sugar into the creamed cheese mixture.
3.  Add hot water alternately with balance of sugar.
4.  Blend in melted chocolate squares.
5.  Set aside 1/2 of this mixture as frosting.
6.  Sift together flour, soda and salt.
7.  Combine remaining shortening (1/4 c) and remaining choc-frosting mixture; mix thoroughly.
8.  Blend in 3 eggs, one at a time. Beat 1 minute.
9.  Add milk alternately with sifted dry ingredients to creamed mixture, beginning and ending with dry i
10.  Pour into 2 - 9 inch layer pans.
11.  Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
