| Burnt Sugar Cake |

| Ingredients: |
| 3/4 | cups | Sugar |
| 1/2 | cups | Shortening (butter or crisco) |
| 2 | | Egg Yolks |
| 2 | tbsp | Burnt Sugar (see previous recipe) |
| 2/3 | tbsp | Vanilla |
| 2/3 | cups | Milk |
| 2 | cups | Flour (Swan's Down) |
| 1/2 | tsp | Salt |
| 3 | tsp | Baking Powder |
| 1 | | Egg White, beaten stiff |

| Instructions: |
| 1. | Cream sugar, shortening and egg yolks. |
| 2. | Add burnt sugar and vanilla. |
| 3. | Mix flour, salt and powder in a separate bowl. |
| 4. | Add milk and dry ingredients to original mixture alternately. |
| 5. | Add stiffened egg white last. |
| 6. | Bake for 30 minutes at 375 degrees. |
