Burnt Sugar Cake |

Ingredients: |
3/4 | cups | Sugar |
1/2 | cups | Shortening (butter or crisco) |
2 | | Egg Yolks |
2 | tbsp | Burnt Sugar (see previous recipe) |
2/3 | tbsp | Vanilla |
2/3 | cups | Milk |
2 | cups | Flour (Swan's Down) |
1/2 | tsp | Salt |
3 | tsp | Baking Powder |
1 | | Egg White, beaten stiff |

Instructions: |
1. | Cream sugar, shortening and egg yolks. |
2. | Add burnt sugar and vanilla. |
3. | Mix flour, salt and powder in a separate bowl. |
4. | Add milk and dry ingredients to original mixture alternately. |
5. | Add stiffened egg white last. |
6. | Bake for 30 minutes at 375 degrees. |
