Chocolate Surprise Cake

Ingredients:
2 1/4cups Flour
1tsp Baking Soda
1tsp Baking Powder
1 1/2cups Sugar
2/3cups Shortening or Butter
3 Eggs
1 1/4tsp Vanilla
1/4tsp Salt
1/2cups Cocoa
1cup Water or Beer
1/2 - 2/3cups Sauerkraut, chopped, rinsed and drained
 
Instructions:
1.  Cream together sugar and shortening.
2.  Add eggs, mix well, then add vanilla, salt and cocoa.
3.  Sift together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
4.  Alternating, add flour mixture and water.
5.  Fold in kraut by hand.
6.  Bake in greased and floured pan for 35-45 minutes at 375 degrees.
7.  (This will make one 9x13 sheet cake or a two-layer cake.)
8.  Frost with your favorite kind of icing.
