Chocolate Surprise Cake |

Ingredients: |
2 1/4 | cups | Flour |
1 | tsp | Baking Soda |
1 | tsp | Baking Powder |
1 1/2 | cups | Sugar |
2/3 | cups | Shortening or Butter |
3 | | Eggs |
1 1/4 | tsp | Vanilla |
1/4 | tsp | Salt |
1/2 | cups | Cocoa |
1 | cup | Water or Beer |
1/2 - 2/3 | cups | Sauerkraut, chopped, rinsed and drained |

Instructions: |
1. | Cream together sugar and shortening. |
2. | Add eggs, mix well, then add vanilla, salt and cocoa. |
3. | Sift together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. |
4. | Alternating, add flour mixture and water. |
5. | Fold in kraut by hand. |
6. | Bake in greased and floured pan for 35-45 minutes at 375 degrees. |
7. | (This will make one 9x13 sheet cake or a two-layer cake.) |
8. | Frost with your favorite kind of icing. |
