Ingredients: |
1 | tbsp | Vanilla (a) |
1 | cup | Butter (a) |
2 | cups | Brown Sugar (a) |
3 | cups | Rolled Oats (a) |
2 | | Eggs (a) |
2 | tsp | Baking Soda (a) |
1 | tsp | Salt (a) |
2 1/2 | cups | Flour (a) |
1 | pkg | Chocolate Bits (12 oz) (b) |
1 | can | Eagle Brand Condensed Milk (b) |
2 | tbsp | Butter (b) |
1/2 | tsp | Salt (b) |
1 | cup | Nuts, chopped (b) |
2 | tsp | Vanilla (b) |

Instructions: |
1. | For (a) ingredients: |
2. | Cream sugar and butter |
3. | Mix in egg and vanilla |
4. | Sift together flour, soda, salt and oats |
5. | Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture. |
6. | Set aside |
7. | For (b) ingredients: |
8. | Melt all (b) ingredients except nuts and vanilla in double boiler |
9. | Stir until smooth |
10. | Add nuts and vanilla |
11. | Place 2/3 of oat mixture in a greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan |
12. | Cover with chocolate mixture |
13. | Dot remaining oat mixture on top |
14. | Bake for 25 - 30 minutes at 350 degrees -- Check with toothpick |
