1 | lb | Dates, chopped | 1 | cup | Nuts (walnuts or pecans work well) | 1 | tsp | Baking Soda | 4 | tbsp | Butter | 1 | cup | Boiling Water | 1 | cup | Sugar | 1 1/4 | cups | Flour | 1 | tsp | Baking Powder |

Instructions: |
1. | Pour water over dates, nuts, soda and butter and stir | 2. | Add sugar, flour and baking powder | 3. | Mix well | 4. | Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes in a greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan |
