| Ingredients: |
| 1/2 | cups | shortening |
| 1/2 | cups | butter, softened |
| 1 | cup | brown sugar |
| 1/2 | cups | sugar |
| 1/2 | tsp | baking soda |
| 2 | | eggs |
| 1 | tsp | vanilla |
| 2 1/2 | cups | all-purpose flour |
| 2 | cups | semi-sween chocolate chips |
| 1 1/2 | cups | nuts (optional) |

| Instructions: |
| 1. | Beat shortening and butter |
| 2. | Add brown sugar, sugar and baking soda; beat until combined |
| 3. | Beat in eggs and vanilla |
| 4. | Mix in flour and chocolate pieces |
| 5. | Drop by teaspoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet |
| 6. | Bake at 375 degrees for 8 - 10 minutes or until edges are lightly brown. |
